Brief
Initially, the project was planned to be a 'cops vs robbers' game, but I was asked to pitch a spy game instead. Looking about at the competitors, I noticed that all spy games had a more modern take, looking like they were rip-offs of Daniel Craig's James Bond, so I pitched a 60's vibed Spy game instead.
Drawing on inspirations from older films in the James Bond franchise, as well as the British spy TV shows like The Avengers (not the Marvel type), and The Man From U.N.C.L.E, even touching upon the 60's Batman show, as well as fashion trends from the era itself, I created a number of characters and objects to act as the symbols for the game.
I got so geeky about this project that I even created a little lore and through design for the villain side, where the lead boss went by the name of 'Diamond Eye' who had an eyepatch, and a pet iguana (who also had an eye patch). The design of the iguana with a patch became the villain's logo and even informed the shape of the lair exterior (which can be slightly seen on the monitor in the hero's hideout).
The big muscled henchman was a studio favourite (Mr. Walrus) was directly inspired by Jaws from Bond and came about after the regular henchmen designs were rejected.
