Yes, this whale exists in a world where you can't drink tea underwater but,somehow, you can smoke a pipe. I am aware of that. I'm not even going to get into the question of how this whale was expecting to even lift the cup to his lips to drink, let alone keep the bowler hat on his head.
Look, I don't make up the rules here (or rather I don't pay attention to the rules laid out by physics or something), all I know is this is happening. Plausibility be damned. Just make your peace with it.
